SELECTION PROCESS

 

Eligibility criteria:

Please ensure that you fulfil the following eligibility criteria for ESR positions in H2020 MSCA-ITNs, as ineligible candidates cannot be considered:

  • The position is open to candidates of any nationality (European and non-European), as long as they fulfill the requirements set for the Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) funded by Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions.
  • Candidates should ideally possess a Master’s degree in a relevant academic field (including Medicine) or a degree that allows them to embark in a PhD. Applicants who have already obtained a PhD degree, or have more than four years of research activity (from the date when they have obtained a University diploma giving access to doctoral studies), are NOT eligible.
  • Applicants must NOT have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country in which the specific project for which they are applying is based for more than twelve months in the three years immediately prior to the date of appointment. This excludes short stays such as holidays or compulsory national service.
  • Applicants must be willing to spend a prolonged time in another institute/country of the network during the PhD thesis period.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate their ability to understand and express themselves in both written and spoken English at a level that is sufficiently high for them to derive the full benefit from the network training (C1 or C2 level).

Additional Skills/Qualifications:

Furthermore, applicants are expected to be motivated to work in the field of functional disorders, work independently and well-structured and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary consortium.

Additional requirements could be necessary according to specific institution's rules.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS

The closing date for the first round of applications is 28th February 2021.

Applications should be submitted via the digital application form  - only these will be processed. You may apply for multiple ESR positions, but need to state for each position why you are interested in the particular position and what you can offer to the project. Your application must include the following documents:

  • Motivation letter for the ESR position of interest, indicate which PhD position(s) you are applying for
  • Curriculum vitae (including countries and duration of residency in the past years)
  • One combined document including:

o   A certificate of Master’s degree and grades of Master’s level studies (copies of degree certificates/diplomas) and copy of the master’s thesis (selected publications)

o   Letters of recommendation (at least two).

 

Please take note that your application will be stored safely at the University Medical Center of Groningen, the Netherlands. Your application will be jointly processed by the partners of the ETUDE consortium and treated according to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In case of eligibility for a specific ESR position, your application will be forwarded to the local supervisor and will be further processed there. Some host institutions may then require additional submission of the application documents via the host’s submission system.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE

In a first step, all applications are checked to see whether they meet the eligibility criteria. The applications are then scored to determine their suitability for the advertised positions. The selected applicants are then invited for a first personal interview by the supervisors of the chosen ESR position (in person on site or online); in some cases, follow-up interviews may follow. The two best candidates for each ESR position will give a scientific presentation on a subject relevant for the ESR project. Candidates will be selected based on:

  • Outstanding academic ability
  • Requested skills and experience for the ESR project of interest
  • Motivation of the application for the ESR position of interest.
